Is Black the New Brick?

WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?!

But dang it looks good!

We always knew the fireplace to be the statement in the living space of a home. It’s known to be a focal point or a center piece if you will. It’s where you hang your holiday stockings, garlands, place your favorite piece of art, or watch clips of your favorite films with the ones you love most. Sometimes we walk into homes with clients and they talk about a fireplace being a “must have” and other times, clients don’t care. Chad and I both have special memories growing up with fireplaces in our homes. I have vivid snow day memories growing up— off from school, sledding with the neighborhood kids. Then, stumbling in the house cheeks purple and fingers red pouring a mug of hot chocolate and curling up next to the fire. Waking up on my childhood birthdays with the smell of cinnamon rolls baking in the oven and a “Happy Birthday” banner hanging from the mantle. Embarrassing school pictures framed and displayed for God and everyone to see when they step in the house. The best! Chad’s memories with a fireplace in the home consist of spending time at his family’s beach cabin. He remembers falling asleep to the crackling sound of a wood fire after making s’mores indoors with him and his brothers. Ask your kids/spouse about their fireplace memories. See what they say. It’s amazing how something so uniform in a home can have so many special memories.

For us, a fireplace is a “MUST HAVE”!
